Infrastructure SQL Engineer

Purpose of the Role
To deliver SQL database administration and infrastructure support, ensuring the successful build, migration, maintenance, and decommissioning of SQL Server environments in line with project and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Build, configure, and administer SQL Server databases.
• Support SQL Server upgrades, migrations, backups, restores, and decommissioning activities.
• Perform quality assurance checks and resolve post-build or migration issues.
• Support application migrations to new infrastructure, data centres, and cloud environments.
• Work with infrastructure and security teams to deliver database solutions.
• Follow change, incident, and problem management processes.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong experience administering Microsoft SQL Server (2016–2025).
• Experience with Always On Availability Groups, Windows Clustering, and other HADR technologies.
• Knowledge of SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, VMware, and PowerShell.
• Experience with SQL Server upgrades, backup and recovery, and database migrations.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes, including Change and Incident Management.
• Experience using BMC Remedy/Helix.

Desirable

• Active Directory, Commvault, and SCOM.
• Jira and Confluence.
• Data centre and cloud migration experience.
• Power BI knowledge.
