About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and proactive HR Advisor to join our team in a fast-paced, commercially driven environment. This is a true generalist role where you will provide first-line HR advice, support managers and employees, and play a key role across employee relations, recruitment, payroll coordination, and learning & development.
You will work closely with the HR Manager, Line Managers, Finance, and external payroll partners to ensure consistent, fair, and legally compliant HR practices that support both our people and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations & HR Advisory
Provide expert first-line HR advice to Line Managers and employees on absence, conduct, performance, and policy application
Support and, where appropriate, lead employee relations cases, ensuring fairness, confidentiality, and legal compliance
Prepare investigation notes, disciplinary and grievance packs, and formal HR documentation
Monitor absence trends, coordinate return-to-work meetings, and support effective absence and performance management
Recruitment & Onboarding
Coordinate end-to-end recruitment activities including job adverts, interviews, offers, contracts, and onboarding
Ensure new starters receive a positive and engaging induction experience
Maintain accurate recruitment and onboarding records, trackers, and metrics
Payroll & HR Administration
Collaborate with the Finance Manager and Payroll Consultant to ensure accurate payroll processing
Act as first point of contact for routine payroll queries, escalating complex issues where required
Ensure timely submission of payroll-impacting HR data including absences, contract changes, and bonuses
Maintain accurate employee records in the HR system in line with GDPR requirements
Learning, Development & HR Projects
Support the coordination and delivery of learning and development programmes, including mandatory training
Maintain training records, track completion rates, and support compliance reporting
Assist with HR workshops, engagement initiatives, organisational change projects, restructures, and consultations
Review and improve HR templates, trackers, systems, and processes to enhance efficiency and employee experience
About You
Essential Experience & Skills
Proven experience in a generalist HR role within a fast-paced or commercially driven environment
Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
Experience supporting or managing employee relations cases
Excellent organisational and administrative skills with strong attention to detail
Proactive, resilient, and able to take ownership of tasks through to completion
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build credibility at all levels
Confident user of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
Desirable
CIPD Level 5 qualification (or working towards)
Experience within FMCG, manufacturing, or similar operational environments
